Welcome everyone to another episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed. Alan Bishop, who has worked on Broken Skull Challenge amongst other tv shows, is our special guest today. Let’s get to the action.

Austin told a story about losing his keys the other day. He spent an hour looking for them, and then finally found them in a spot where he had already looked. He said he would’ve felt dumb having to call Uber to take him home.

Alan is the supervising challenge producer on the Broken Skull Challenge. He’s Canadian.

He likes simple challenges. He thinks sometimes it’s not better to make a challenge to complex.

He left home at the age of 15 and traveled the country for 3 years. He then joined the military. When he got out he went back to guiding in the wilderness.

He met a lot of CEO’s and heads of businesses while guiding. He started playing games with them while hiking since a lot of these guys weren’t used to being on their feet for long periods of time. These CEO’s started calling him because they liked these games for team building purposes. He loved team building. He then transitioned into reality television.

His parents divorced when he was ten. He bounced back and forth between households, but settled in with his dad because it was easier, there was no parenting. He did a lot of drugs, alcohol, and smoked a lot cigarettes at early ages. He has since cleaned himself up.

He went into the military because he felt like he needed structure. He just walked into a recruiting office one day and signed up for infantry. Boot camp was a whole other world for him because he wasn’t used to anyone telling him what to do.

Fitness is a way of life for him. He loves Crossfit training. He believes in risk taking to achieve. He is big on tracking your fitness goals. He loves to train on hills.

He thinks people who set up resolutions are setting themselves up for failure by not keeping things simple.

The Steve Austin Show with Missy Hyatt 9-13-16

Welcome everyone to another episode of The Steve Austin Show. Missy Hyatt returns to the show today. She will be the one to ask Austin the questions this time around. Let’s get to the action.

Austin said he’s making a comeback from his shoulder surgery. He’s getting stronger, but it’s a slow and steady progress.

Austin is super busy filming the upcoming season of Broken Skull Challenge, he said it should be a good one.

World Class Championship Wrestling was the only live show he went to see as a fan when he was younger, mainly because he didn’t have much money. He watched some other organizations on tv, but their live shows were to far away for him.

He had no other plans when he got hired by WCW. He doesn’t know what he would have done if they wouldn’t have hired him in the early 90’s.

Danny Davis and Superstar Bill Dundee were two guys that he learned a lot from in his early days in Dallas.

Missy says one of her regrets in life was breaking up with John Tatum. She left him for Eddie Gilbert.

When they turned Austin heel against Chris Adams, that promotion tripled in viewership. It was a really hot angle at the time. That is the feud that really got him noticed.

He said he never had to deal much with Jim Herd, but he could tell he didn’t know much about the wrestling business.

He never wanted to be in a tag team with Brian Pillman, but he ended up liking it. He doesn’t know why they broke them up.

Tom Pritchard is the one who helped him realize that there’s more to a wrestler than being a mechanic, you needed to become a personality as well.

He loved working with Madusa, especially since he was a fan of hers from before he got into the business.

Austin thinks if he could go back he would tell his younger self to learn how to do a better promo earlier in his career.

Missy thinks the business has gotten a little fast for her. She wishes they’d slow down a little so the action registers in peoples head better.

The Steve Austin Show with Wade Keller 9-06-16

By Byron Evans – @Bevans1985 – You can check this out every Tuesday/Thursday on Ringsidenews.com, along with other good wrestling articles/news. Follow me on twitter so you don’t miss any of my articles. I post podcast recaps and original content daily.

Welcome everyone to another episode of The Steve Austin Show. Our guest today is Wade Keller, and they are ready to talk about NXT TakeOver Brooklyn, and NXT in general. This should be a great episode, lets get to the action.

Austin recently watched the recent NXT TakeOver event, and he loved it. He thinks NXT has a different look than the main roster shows, and he loves that. He loves the lighting and the production. He mentioned loving the lighting 3 times in a few minutes.

Wade said he instantly loved the NXT atmosphere as soon as the show came on, and he said he liked it much better than SummerSlam. He likes that NXT doesn’t appear like a smaller scale version of the main roster, it appears as if it is its own brand.

Austin really enjoys the NXT commentary team. He said they treat it like a sporting event. It reminds him of old school wrestling, and it’s very fresh.

Wade agrees with the sports like atmosphere of NXT as well. He likes how they act like they’re still protecting kayfabe.

Austin thinks No Way Jose has good size, good mechanics, and a good look. This was the first time Austin has ever seen him. He thinks Austin Aries is a really good worker as well. He doesn’t know how far No Way Jose can go, but he thinks he could change his gimmick some to go further up the card. He thought it was a great open match, and that Jose has great upside.

Wade thought they had a great dynamic between themselves. He thought Hideo got a good pop when he appeared after the match. Austin was very curious how Austin Aries had been booked.

Austin enjoyed the Ember Moon, Billie Kay match. He loved the aggressive nature of both women. He gave the match a big thumbs up. He had never heard of either of those women. He wonders if Ember can pull off her finishing move every time she attempts it.

Austin thought Bobby Roode’s glorious vignette was off the charts. He thinks Bobby has a perfect entrance. Wade is glad they went all-in with Bobby Roode. Austin had never heard of Andrade Almas, but he likes his look and his work. Austin thinks he should lose the suspenders.

Austin thought the match was built to develop the character of Bobby Roode, and getting it over. Andrade was a supporting player in the purpose of the match, he wasn’t a jobber. Austin loved the commentary during the match.

Wade thinks they need to immediately move Bobby Roode to the main roster and take advantage of his gimmick. Austin agreed they need to run with him.

Austin loved the tag team championship match. Wade said it was one of his favorite matches this year. He said it was a clinic in how to have an amazing match without taking a million high risk bumps. Dash and Dawson showed that in 2016 you can still get over as a heel instead of running into the problem of being a cool heel.

Austin thought the referee did an amazing job in this match, always in the right place at the right time. He thought Gargano and Ciampa killed it. He thinks Dash and Dawson brought back the lost art of tag team wrestling. He liked how neither team pandered to the crowd, but the crowd totally bought into the match. He thinks Gargano and Ciampa got over more than they were by losing.

Austin is a big Bayley fan. Wade thinks this was Asuka’s best ring entrance. He likes how physically she brings it. Austin loved the last third of the match. He didn’t think the loss hurt Bayley at all.

Wade likes how in NXT the celebrities are the wrestlers. They show how the stars from the main roster, and the NXT alumnus, want to be there to see the show.

Austin is a big fan of Shinsuke Nakamura. He thought the entrance was just a little to long for his liking. Wade loved every second of the ring entrance. Austin thought it was a heck of a match. Austin wishes Samoa Joe would have wrestled during his time because he would have loved to have wrestled him.

This concludes today’s episode of The Steve Austin Show. If you want to hear good analysis of NXT TakeOver Brooklyn then this is the podcast for you. Thanks guys for reading. The Steve Austin Show with Ricky Morton 8-2-16

Today’s guest is former pro wrestler Ricky Morton. Ricky was one half of the infamous tag team the Rock N Roll Express. They will talk about various wrestling topics. Let’s get to the show.

Austin was racking his brain about who he would talk to for his podcast today. He said he was watching a high speed car chase on tv, and somehow he started thinking about Ricky Morton. He called up Ricky, with no intention of doing a podcast, and after hanging up, he decided he would call Ricky back up to do a podcast with him today. Ricky had originally asked Austin to plug his wrestling school on Austin’s podcast, so Austin decided to have him on to talk about it himself.

Austin really puts over Ricky as one of the best sellers and promo guys in all of wrestling history. He said there is no-one better to learn the pro wrestling game from than Ricky Morton.

Ricky Morton’s school of wrestling is called School of Morton. It is located in Chuckey, Tennessee, which is located east of Knoxville close to the North Carolina border.

Ricky trains people on Tuesdays and Sundays. You pay 250 down, and ten dollars a day. He has guys from multiple states coming to train there. He thinks his price is really reasonable compared to a lot of wrestling schools.

He loves the location of his wrestling school. He said Chuckey, Tennessee is a super small place, so it’s easy to find his school.

Ricky starts off making sure people are in shape. He says you can’t even do the simplest things in the ring if you aren’t in shape. He always starts teaching the basics, like arm drags, back bumps, rope running, headlocks, etc.

Ricky sounds like he’s a good ol’ country boy. He definitely has a strong southern accent. He thinks it’s important to teach his students to be polite.

He thinks what makes a good babyface is that you can work with anyone. Selling is what really got him over with the crowd.

Ricky got his first big break with Bill Watts. He got into a tag team called the Rock N Roll Express. They had great matches with the Midnight Express.

Ricky always worked the pro style as a wrestler. Even though he was only 175 pounds, he never worked the crazy cruiserweight style. As a pro style, he focused on certain body parts.

He never had any major injuries. Sure he had some smaller scale injuries, but he never had any major surgeries. He still wrestles to this day.

Ricky thinks people who take a lot of high risks are more prone to injuries. He thinks you need to take care of each other in the ring.

He teaches people that they need to go with the flow. Sometimes you need to go fast, and sometimes you need to go slow.

He talked about how back in the day you never saw a heel hanging out with a babyface in public.

You can tell both guys have a lot of respect for Ric Flair. They both put over Ric as one of the greatest. They said he really lived his gimmick.

Austin thinks the reason Ricky Morton’s promos were so great because you could tell he really meant what he said.

This concludes today’s episode of The Steve Austin Show with former pro wrestler Ricky Morton. If you love wrestling then you will truly enjoy this podcast. Thanks guys for reading. Check back with us this Thursday for the next episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed. Feel free to comment and start discussions below.

The Steve Austin Show Unleashed with Bill Burr Part 2 7-28-16

By Byron Evans – @Bevans1985 – You can check this out every Tuesday/Thursday on Ringsidenews.com, along with other good wrestling articles/news. Follow me on twitter so you don’t miss any of my articles. I post podcast recaps and original content daily.

Welcome everyone to another episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed. On today’s episode, Bill Burr returns for another conversation. Let’s get to the show.

Austin’s wife Kristen joins him for the opening of today’s podcast episode.  They talk about mowing lawns and doing work around the house. Austin hates pushing a vacuum cleaner.

Austin turns the thermostat on 85 degrees when he’s not home. He came home and it was 105 degrees in his house recently, apparently the air conditioner needed to be fixed.

Austin told a story about being photo bombed by a fly when he was at the wedding of his little sister recently. He said he had to cut a promo on that fly. He challenges the fly to a match at WrestleMania next year in Orlando, Florida. He wants a Texas death match.

Bill said you have to get a good agent, you can’t try and negotiate contracts yourself. In the beginning, everyone thought he was funny, he just had problems selling tickets.

He talks about the importance of having a hook, but not using it forever. Your act should change over time, over-reliance on the same material will lead to a burn out by fans.

They both agree that it might take time to get over, but once you get over you’ll stay over. Dave Chapelle gave Bill that advice.

Bill has a lot of respect for Kevin Hart. He thinks he is a very confident guy. Bill said you could tell from day one that guy would be huge.

Austin said the worst thing you can do as a new wrestler is go to fast. Bill said its the same thing with comedy. He said he was so nervous when he first started doing stand-up comedy that he would sweat real bad. He was so afraid to bomb.

When Bill first started comedy, he wrote clean comedy. He gradually embraced his anger, and his natural personality. He said clean comedy just wasn’t him.

Bill thinks when you go to a comedy club you want to see people go off and say crazy stuff.

Bill has his helicopter pilot’s license. Austin is interested in getting his license to fly helicopters too. Bill talks to Austin about what it’s like to fly a helicopter.

Bill has a show on tv called “F Is For Family.” Vince Vaughn is part of the show with Bill. It takes him about 7 days to write an episode. It’s an animated show. They are 30 minute episodes.

Bill still loves to travel. Austin is a homebody nowadays, he doesn’t like to travel anymore.

This concludes today’s episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed with special guest Bill Burr. This podcast was just as good as the one he had with Bill last week, I recommend everyone check it out. Thanks guys for reading. Check back with us next Tuesday for the next episode of The Steve Austin Show.

What did you guys think of today’s episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed ? Has anyone seen Bill’s show “F Is For Family?”

The Steve Austin Show with Ted Fowler 7-19-16

By Byron Evans – @Bevans1985 – You can check this out every Tuesday/Thursday on Ringsidenews.com, along with other good wrestling articles/news. Follow me on twitter so you don’t miss any of my articles. I post podcast recaps and original content daily.

Welcome everyone to another episode of The Steve Austin Show. On today’s show, Ted Fowler returns to shoot the breeze and talk about what life has been like recently. Let’s get to the show.

Austin’s wife Kristen calls right as the show starts, so he answers and picks on her about how lucky she is to be on the podcast today.

Austin likes getting on the treadmill for about twenty minutes before he works out. He’s not lifting real heavy right now, but he’s been getting in some good workouts lately.

He goes on a rant this week about people with bad body odor at the gym. He does not appreciate people ruining his workout because they smell so bad.

They recently had a power outage at the broken skull ranch. They have 5 refrigerators, which means a lot of potential bad food. Ted let everything re-freeze once they got the power back on. It’s taken a lot of work to clean all of them out so they don’t stink.

Rats had chewed up the wires to the tractor they have, so it needed to be repaired. A repair man came and fixed it while Ted was asleep, so he didn’t even know they had come. When he went to use the tractor to mow, he found a live raccoon asleep in the engine. They say they have some raccoons on PED’s down on the ranch.

Ted gets a flat tire in Austin’s dad’s Bronco. He was lucky that the Bronco had a spare tire. He had a jack, but no lug wrench. He wishes it could’ve happened a little closer to the house because it was very hot outside. It was a good four mile trek from the house.

Ted has had a little cold lately. He took a bunch of medicine, but he couldn’t shake the cold. He felt like he had a respiratory issue. He went to a doctor’s office, but the doctor wasn’t there to see him. He then goes to the urgent care and finds out he has a respiratory virus. He got two shots, one in each butt cheek, and one of the shots burned bad. He was sweating really bad.

When he got to the register to pay the bill it turns out it was 563 dollars. He has insurance, but had just changed health insurance companies, so he didn’t have proof of insurance with him. He ended up signing up for some plan to lower the bill to a little less than 200 dollars.

Austin asked Ted if he should prepare to hear any wedding bells ringing soon. Ted laughed hard, because he apparently has no plans to get married anytime soon.

This concludes today’s episode of The Steve Austin Show. Today’s episode was laid-back, and full of good stories about what’s been going on with these two guys. Thanks guys for reading. Check back with us this Thursday for another episode of The Steve Austin Show Unleashed. Feel free to comment and start discussions below.
